After two days of grueling battles our very own Tobi Henriet fought his way to the very top of the Final Fantasy TCG World Championship and took home all the booze!

FFTCG LogoChampions aren't born, they are made. Even though we're a relatively small country in the vast quilt that make up Europe's nations, today we have risen to world dominance thanks to the skills and prowess of our very own; Tobi Henriet.

Last weekend Tobi travelled all the way to the Square Enix headquarters in Tokyo, Japan to participate in the grand finals of the very first world championship for the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game.

Not only was it a special two days because it was the very first time this tournament was being held, it was also the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy itself!

Players from every continent (apart from Antarctica, sorry: no penguins allowed) participated and after a long and arduous weekend (and many, many matches) our champion eventually beat his final opponent, Michitarou Yabouchi, and took home the cake.

Well, it wasn't so much cake as it was a trophy, a signed playmat, the complete set of FFTCG cards, and two signed bottles of wine. Not a bad haul huh?

We wish Tobi Henriet well and hope he's not too jet-lagged from his return trip. Let's hope there's a huge party for him at home because he does deserve one!

Just don't drink those bottles of wine all at once, okay?*

You can view the last day of the tournament (and see Tobi in action), along with the closing ceremony, right here.

(* Or maybe do, we're not your mom. We're not going to tell a world champion what he can or cannot do!)
