Erlend Van Der Haegen is a long-time roleplayer who wondered why 'classic' roleplaying games often took place in what he calls a 'New-Zealand'-setting. Especially when we have some very rich folklore right at home! So he combined years of LARP-experience along with knowledge of both old and new fantasy mechanics and created Ambrosia. A Dutch RPG filled with history where storytelling is key.

Ambrosia does away with lush forests and high mountains and introduces us to marshland and fens. There dwell creatures our ancestors rightly feared and although they were imagination and fearful misunderstanding for those in medieval times, they are very real in the world of Ambrosia.

Monsters aren't the only danger though. Politics are perhaps even more lethal than the most fiendish beast. Conflicts at court, hidden or not, have proven the death of many an adventurer. You'll find that morality and humanity meant different things in the old days and it will take devotion to storytelling to get out of tricky situations.

This is what Ambrosia wants to present to both new and old players. A new, historically realistic setting with the main focus on storytelling. All of this is supported by a skill-based system where players are freed from the constraints of a 'class' and built in whatever way you like. This makes characters more fragile, personal and easier to weave into the intrigues of Ambrosia.

As a game Ambrosia tries to be affordable by rolling multiple manuals like the player's guide, dungeon master's guide and bestiary in one book. It tries to do away with tons of expansions and 'optional' rules that in the end turn out to be critical to your experience. Once you buy the basic game you should never need anything else.

All of these things is why Boardnado is happy to work with Red Eyed Rabbit to present and promote this game.
