Each ready-to-play 60-card deck features a foil Planeswalker card. They come with one booster pack (instead of the usual two), a strategy insert and a Magic learn-to-play guide.

They are designed to integrate with the M19's Welcome Decks, using similar themes and some of the same cards for familiarity, but with more power and depth. In addition, the M19 Deck Builder's Toolkit uses fixed content that can be used to improve the content of the Planeswalker decks.[2]

The Planeswalker Decks of Core Set 2019 lack the usual planeswalker tutors, replacing them with a card that looks the top five cards and picks one card of the same color. This is because R&D decided to keep shuffling out of the beginners product.
