Outpost, in cooperation with Hammerstrike AMG and Diamondback Industries is ready to launch their latest product. A board game representing the super-popular reality-tv show: Giant Killer Robots.

Everyone knows Weta Workshop right? The New Zealand based firm produced just about every cool costume, prop, or creature from both the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. Now they're flying solo as they've created their very own IP which they intend to launch as a board game!

"Giant Killer Robots: Heavy Hitters" is their imagining of what a post-apocalyptic world would look like. Instead of the classic 'remnants of humanity surviving in colonies' we have megacorporations, giant mechs, ridiculous advertisements, 15-hour workdays, and reality-tv on a never-seen-before scale.

ai 679 thunderhappyBasically corporations rule the world now, and in trying to make it better (are they really, though?), they've turned what should be a salvage operation into a media circus of epic proportions. Four of the biggest corporations are unleashing humongous mechs into one of the many abandoned metropolises. Their goal is to either fight until one emerges victorious (in which case the corporation in question gets ultimate advertisment rights) or to salvage up to four skyscrapers (in which case that faction wins all salvage rights to the city).

The players get to play as the reality-tv stars of the show: the smack-talking pilots themselves. It's up to you to maneuver your mech and its remote-controlled support craft while working towards one of the two goals. To do this you will need to manage your ability cards (which double as health), movement (including strategic placement), and energy (which fuels your abilities).

No dice are required, everything is done using the ability cards and energy system, allowing for fast-paced gameplay.

And since it's Weta making the game you can be assured that the (large!) miniatures you get with this board game are top-notch quality! In-house fabricated even. Isn't that cool?

So pop a Thunderhappy pill and settle into your patented King Wolf Incorporated seat and go get 'em soldier!
