This week we're seeing a host of boardgames that take us on mighty quests, daring races, and horror-filled scenarios. Fortunately we have some Ferengi wisdom to guide us through this BGU: The Rules of Acquisition!
Star Trek: Ascendancy - Ferengi Alliance
Last week we talked about the militaristic Cardassian Hegemony, how barbaric! Everyone knows that the only goal worth achieving in the galaxy is personal enrichment? (Although rule #34 does say: 'War is good for bussiness' .....) Test your commercial accumen with the Ferengi Alliance expansion using such wisdom as rule #10 'Greed is eternal' or the ever important rule #1: 'Once you have their money, you never give it back!'
Is a worker placement game where your worker-minions change constantly. Support wars, gather influence, stab your trusted ally in the back, ... it's a typical day on Ferenginar in Rome!
Terraforming Mars: Hellas & Elesium
Is an expansion for the Terraforming Mars game that adds a double-layered board featuring Mars' two poles: Hellas and Elysium on either side. (This is great for adherands of rule #45: Expand or die!) The expansion comes entirely in Dutch.
Turbo Rally Card Racing: Thunder Track
In this atypical racing game you don't just outmanouvre your opponents .... you obliterate them! Use anything from land mines, machine guns, and even rocket launchers to gain an edge all the while stunting through hoops and obstacles. A game true to rule #62: Profit is its own reward. The riskier the road, the greater the profit!
A horror game without zombies ... yeah, we had to reread that a few times too. It does contain just about every other horrifying beastie you can think of. Work together with friends to either vanquish or escape the monsters .... but beware: everyone hides a dark past and might not be the friend you think they are! Or to apply some Ferengi wisdom: "You can't make a deal when you're dead!"
Quest as legendary characters from Arthurian legend such as Merlin or even Arthur himself! Journey to distant lands, complete mighty quests, gather ancient relics (holy grail anyone?), and expand your knowledge (#74: Knowledge equals profit) of Arthurian legend. Will there be dragons? I hope so!
Tomb Trader is a lightning fast game meant to be played in 5-10 minutes. In this game everyone plays as a Ferengi tomb robber trying to steal loot from archeological digs. Once you find your sweet bling you better divide it in 1 minute or everyone goes home empty handed.
Much like 'Werewolves' this game has us hunting witches, while the witches are attempting to murder an innocent every night. If you are slain you are not out of the game as your ghost lingers, but beware the witches' special powers! A game where you should take rule #190 to heart: Hear all, trust nothing!
Star Wars Rebellion: Rise of the Empire
In a galaxy far, far away where nobody has ever heard of Ferengi a ragtag team of rebels is trying to achieve the impossible by attempting to steal the plans to the dreaded Death Star. Bring all the action of Rogue One to your tabletop with the Rise of the Empire expansion!
